A recent bill has been introduced into the senate that is trying to change the age of purchasing vaping products from the current 18 to 21. Now, some states have already adopted this plan but those age increases are not currently active or enforced at this time. The “logic” behind this, according to the supporting senators is that increasing the age to 21 will lower the amount of access underage kids have to someone old enough to buy the products for them.
So, if that is the type of logic they use to justify such aggressive regulations and laws then I must ask why and where was this outrage for decades? Why did this not happen until the safest and least harmful way to “inhale” nicotine came into the industry? Many studies have been conducted and shown that vaping not only is the most successful (NRT) Nicotine replacement therapy device on the market, with results of helping more then 3 times the amount of adults to quit smoking than any other forms such as patches, gums, and nasal sprays have. Its also been proven time after time with study after study that vaping does not introduce up to 99% of the harsh chemical substances that a cigarette does so what and why did congress wait until a viable and effective product came to market to kick a habit that kills millions of people? Money.
Tobacco provides states and government with over 15 billion dollars per year in revenue. This is enough to pay the whole budget the U.S gave to the Food and Agriculture industry. The states and government justifies those taxes based on the fact that tobacco use causes over 500,000 yearly deaths and over 40,000 second hand smoke related deaths per year and such high taxes are to help off set medical expenses for non insured patients. The U.S spends on average 1% of its yearly tobacco revenue for smoking prevention programs.
That is just the tip of the “tobacco fact” iceberg but its a clear indication that your “people in power” in the United States didn’t give a damn about your heath from tobacco usage, or the fact that your kids were smoking as long as they were making money off of it. Enter vaping, big tobaccos only ever real rival. Tobacco companies started seeing losses in the billions due to people quiting for a lesser evil, the “NetFlix, Lucifer version of evil”. I mean come on, if we had to have the devil walk among us i’m sure everyone who has seen that show would agree, THATS the version of the devil they would want. Now yes, some will and have said, well i want NO evil. Unfortunately we live in a claimed to be, “free” country or society so people have the right to do what they wish, regardless of what you think they should or shouldn’t do. What someone decides to eat, drink, smoke, or say is there right and unless it personally harms or effects you, mind your own business. So, because big tobacco started losing billions in revenue, then naturally states and government saw equal losses and due to that, and that alone, is why they are making such a huge issue and very aggressive stance towards vaping products.
Proof of Ignorance and Greed
While congress and those in “power” throw around there ego’s and privileged mentalities like we don’t see it, its hard not to know they think they know best and they look at all the citizens like we “need” them. They lie so badly and have become incredible deflection ninja’s, avoiding any and all conversations with a difference in opinion.
They have demonized the vaping industry based on extremely exaggerated “facts” and use them to further scare tactics in the people in hopes for support to pass personal and “paid for” bills. They created the “vape apocalypse” for what? No seriously, if it wasn’t for money, then honestly what? Because of teen use? And here is why this is ignorant, unjust, and just an all out war with vaping due to profit loss.
Studies in recent years (2015-2018) that they used to support this massive teen “vaping epidemic” claim shows that 9% of teens admit to tobacco usage within the last 30 days. That sounds horrible right? Thats 9% of tobacco use “including” vaping as part of that percentage, not all. In fact a little less than half of the 9% was vaping products. Still, this is unacceptable and we must do something about it right? Agreed! But wait a minute, 10-15 years prior when vaping products didn’t exists, that percentage was 36.4% and even higher for decades before then! Does anyone recall a massive epidemic and attack on big tobacco for +30% of, at that time 100% tobacco usage. Of course not because they were making the money.
Millions die from smoking tobacco, None have died from vaping. Have people reported sickness from vaping? sure but more people have allergic reactions to peanuts so….
Even more evidence supporting this is all about money is my personal favorite. This one shows complete stupidity in multiple contradicting ways.
We have seen what they say and do when 9% of teens admit to using tobacco (including vape) and the extent they go with banning products. In 2017, over 30% of teens admitted to drinking alcohol in the last 30 days. Over 11% of all alcohol sold in the U.S is consumed by 12-20 year olds. Over 110,000 emergency room visits were reported from underage drinking related injuries. 12% admit to binge drinking in the last 30 days, 8% of 8th grades admit to drinking in the last 30 days.
I could go on and on with more facts about the underage drinking problem that seems to be getting ignored. I don’t know of one single alcohol flavor that couldn’t be claimed to be appealing to children like vape juice companies are. I also couldn’t tell you the last time I attended a public fair, concert, sporting event, and even some CHARITY events that weren’t sponsored by a alcohol brand/company. Could ANY of that have something to do with such high underage drinking numbers? It would seem the states and government do not care about your children drinking, getting sick, killing innocent people by drinking and driving as long as they make the 76+ billion dollars they made from alcohol last year alone.
Consequences of Underage Drinking
Youth who drink alcohol are more likely to experience
- School problems, such as higher absence and poor or failing grades.
- Social problems, such as fighting and lack of participation in youth activities.
- Legal problems, such as arrest for driving or physically hurting someone while drunk.
- Physical problems, such as hangovers or illnesses.
- Unwanted, unplanned, and unprotected sexual activity.
- Disruption of normal growth and sexual development.
- Physical and sexual assault.
- Higher risk for suicide and homicide.
- Alcohol-related car crashes and other unintentional injuries, such as burns, falls, and drowning.
- Memory problems.
- Abuse of other drugs.
- Changes in brain development that may have life-long effects.
- Death from alcohol poisoning.
Hey, but as long as we make billions we don’t mind it. Lets just make the alcohol companies say something in there ads about ” drink responsible” or, ” must be 21 to drink”
It is a complete insult to everyones intelligence to let them get away with attacking a whole industry that provides a “low risk” nicotine delivery device with these complete and out of control bans and restrictions never before seen.
All of there claims or justifications is nothing more then a smoke screen from the truth that its all about money and that the vaping industry is considered new money. Billions in fact. Billions of dollars that the “elite” don’t have there sticky little greedy hands in and have no control over the wealth of the industry related profits.
